FAQs

How far do you travel?

I’m available for celebrations anywhere on this amazing planet. Of course, living in Portland, Oregon means that I spend most of my time in the Pacific Northwest, California, and Western Canada. All packages include up to 1.5 hrs of travel from my home base. After we brainstorm plans for your adventurous wedding, I will include travel costs based on the distances and overnight accommodations, if needed.

How do we determine what package is right for us?

Every adventurous wedding is different so it can definitely be challenging to know which of my packages best suits your adventure. After 20+ years of shooting weddings and elopements however, I have a pretty good handle on how much time we may need to achieve your vision. Please get in touch and I would be happy to generate a quote to fit your specific needs.

How do we book a date?

The first step to locking in your date is to give me a call or schedule a video chat via email. After discussing your plans and selecting the best package, I’ll send over a link for signing the contract and paying the retainer.

Do you know a great elopement photographer that can join our adventure?

I’ve collaborated with a lot of great artists over the years but have to say that Ara at Elope Adventurously is one of the very best. We work together regularly and our styles seamlessly compliment one another.

If you already have a photographer in mind, I’m happy to work as a team with whoever is the best fit for you. Please talk to me if you have specific needs for style and availability.

What are some of your favorite locations for elopements?

The Pacific Northwest is one of my absolute favorite places to photograph. I’ve spent much of my life surrounded by the forests, coastlines, and mountains of the northwest and constantly find new adventures, vistas, and hideaways. Having hiked throughout the world, from the Annapurnas in Nepal to the alps of Switzerland to the Napali Coast of Kauai, I just can’t get enough of adventures near and far. If you have a specific terrain or vista in mind but aren’t sure where to find it, please get in touch and I’d be happy to share some ideas based on my years of adventurous wedding experience.

Are there any adventures you won’t do?

Although I recognize my limitations when it comes to such things as free soloing El Capitan (I’m no Alex Honnold after all), I’m always game to explore new places for your celebration. I’m an experienced hiker and occasional mountaineer, so I mean it when I say that I’m open to adventures big and small. Just tell me the date and I’ll meet you in Antarctica, Iceland, Patagonia, or at the base of Kilimanjaro.

That being said, there are places that I don’t shoot weddings at due to overuse by recreators or habitat restoration. As a lover of the outdoors, I am committed to doing my part to protect natural areas. If an area is closed, protected, or potentially dangerous I will have us head to another amazing location.

What if the weather is bad?

I’m equipped to handle most situations including a bit of rain, snow, or wind. In fact, sometimes these conditions make your video truly epic and special! There are also ways to accommodate less than ideal weather by adjusting locations or ceremony time (moving from morning to afternoon for example). Very rarely do I suggest rescheduling an elopement but this will be considered if conditions are too extreme to be safe or if the weather could cause my equipment to function poorly.

Kind words from our clients

At Ease

He is incredibly easy to work with and knows how to capture perfect shots while working with bridal parties and families, which is no small feat. He is very easy to work with and his reassuring confidence will put any bride/groom’s nerves at ease as soon as he walks in the room.

Our Sense of Fun and Adventure

I whole-heartedly believe getting videography from Jonathan is the best value you can get in the entire West Coast. My husband is an artist so we had a high bar, yet we also wanted our videographer to share our sense of fun and adventure. Jonathan quickly rose to the top of the pile among a list from Washington, Oregon and Northern California.

One More Thing

One more thing that we love about Atelier pictures is their commitment to serving others abroad. Their work in Nepal is something to applaud and we love that we are able to support a local business that cares about social justice around the world. Jonathan does amazing work, repeatedly going above and beyond, and we are extremely happy with the selection of services we chose.

Our memories are now forever kept

The cinematography was so beautiful and artistic with such high quality – it’s like seeing a big-screen movie with us in it. Most importantly, we found that he listened carefully, understood our vision exactly and made it so enjoyable and comfortable for us to work with. Our memories are now forever kept, and we have a true piece of artwork that we will treasure for life.
